More and more business processes are turning mobile today. Members of the sales force and support staff are often out of their office, but still need access to their applications and data. Whether online connections are used or redundant applications are built for this purpose, there is always one challenge: The user needs a mobile device with suitable software.
There are three caveats here: Firstly, not every software works on any device. Secondly, not every device is suitable for any application scenario. Finally, the user interface and usability requirements differ between devices. And often, the requirements in the areas of security and robustness are especially challenging.

The inherent opportunities and risks of mobile business processes and the supporting software systems are identified and evaluated at the Chair of Applied Telematics’ Mobile Technology Lab in close cooperation with practitioners.
In this context, the MTL already built prototypes of mobile applications and selected the suitable mobile devices for various sectors (insurances, residential trade, logistics, automotive industry, utilities).

The Mobile Technology Lab offers the following services:
- analysis of existing business models, processes and applications, regarding the economical suitability and technical feasibility of mobile aspects
- conceptual design and development of prototypes for mobile applications
- support with the selection of suitable mobile devices for individual application scenarios
- Mobility Weeks: We offer our experience with various mobile devices to practitioners (e.g. system architects, developers) of interested companies. With respect to the individual requirements profiles, prototypes are built cooperatively, allowing practitioners to develop an understanding for the suitability of different devices for different purposes.
- We would be happy to give you a detailed presentation of the Mobile Technology Lab’s services. Please send an e-mail to
